Check it out
The earlier cancer is detected, the greater the chances that treatment will be successful and less intensive. Screening programmes are available for the most common types of cancer and are covered by statutory health insurance. Yet not everyone takes advantage of these opportunities for early detection – often because they are not sufficiently aware of their options. To mark National Cancer Prevention Week, starting on 21 September 2026 we will be raising awareness of services available under statutory cancer screening programme under the slogan “Check it out” – while also supporting businesses and companies in organising workplace health initiatives on the topic.

National Cancer Prevention Week
National Cancer Prevention Week is a joint initiative of the German Cancer Aid (Deutsche Krebshilfe), the German Cancer Research Center (DKFZ) and the German Cancer Society (Deutsche Krebsgesellschaft). The three organizations are drawing attention to the great potential of prevention. The vision: to prevent cancer from developing in the first place. Cancer Prevention Week takes place every year in September. Each year, the focus is on a different lifestyle factor that influences cancer risk.
